If you want to have some good fun with your kids you should download some Coloring Pages from a good website. As he colors I tell him the names of the colors and he is already picking them up easily, especially his favourites Green and Brown. Every time he begins to use a word I have taught him I really get a unique buzz that you have to be a dad to understand. I really appreciate all the little contributions I can make. I also tell him the names of whatever he is currently coloring, like an arm, a leg, a tree, a bus and so on. All learning really comes from repetition so by saying these names over and over he will pick them up fast.

Most homes will have coloring pencils or crayons. In my house we also have glitter pens, foam pens and most importantly paints for the kids to select between. Using paints will require a little bit more setup time as you may need to clear an area and lay newspapers down over the table to protect it.No matter how old the child is they can still take part. My youngest cant keep the page steady so I stick it down with some sellotape and she can then take part!Once they are done, we often grab our child safe scissors and cut out the figures on the pages. From there we have the choice of putting them up around the house or adding them into a scrapbook. Trust me once they start scrapbooking these, you will end up with loads of books full of pictures which you will treasure more and more as they grow up. I intend to try and embarrass my kids with these on their future wedding days!Another idea is to take the cut out characters and add them into a new scene of your making. Get a bigger blank piece of paper and stick them in to make an action packed scene, or as my youngest calls it, "A Party!".
